On December 23, 2024, in Kampala, Uganda, Police Constable Charles Bahati fatally shot a driver, identified as Julius Ssemwaka, during an altercation on Ssezibwa Road in Nakasero. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. when Bahati and Ssemwaka, who was driving a vehicle with registration number UAX 480C, engaged in a dispute. During the confrontation, Bahati discharged his firearm, resulting in Ssemwaka’s death.

Following the shooting, Bahati fled the scene and is currently at large. Law enforcement authorities have initiated a manhunt to apprehend him and recover the firearm used in the incident. Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances that led to the altercation and subsequent shooting.
