MAKERERE KAVULE, Dec. 3 — The headquarters at Makerere Kavule today hosted members of the fraternity of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The event, held under the theme “Unlocking potential: inclusive leadership for a barrier-free future,” highlighted the organization’s commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunity.
In addressing attendees, the leadership underscored the resilience of the PWD community and acknowledged ongoing challenges, including limited access to healthcare, education, employment opportunities, and persistent workplace discrimination. They emphasized the importance of fostering understanding and support within families and communities.
“We must all commit to recognizing the potential in every individual and ensure our actions create an inclusive society,” the keynote speaker urged. The day concluded with a luncheon and performances by artists from the PWD community, celebrating diversity and shared humanity.
