A group of Ugandan exiles, in cooperation with disillusioned members of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF), are allegedly involved in a plot to overthrow President Yoweri Museveni’s government, according to recent court documents. The group, identified as the “Uganda Lord’s Salvation Army,” has reportedly held secret meetings both within Uganda and across the border in South Sudan and other neighboring regions, including refugee camps in northern Uganda.

The Ugandan military court has so far remanded over 30 individuals, including soldiers, civilians, and religious leaders, on charges ranging from treason to murder. The suspects are accused of recruiting members to their cause and orchestrating attacks on government security posts in an attempt to destabilize the government. Among the accused are seven UPDF soldiers and police officers, including Captain Denish Oola Oyaa, Lieutenant Benjamin Oduru, and Warrant Officer 2 Oryek Sunday Jenaro. They are being tried alongside civilians from various professional backgrounds, including social workers, teachers, and pastors.

The prosecution claims that this group was preparing to carry out a series of coordinated attacks in Uganda to weaken the state’s grip on power. According to court records, these efforts are part of broader opposition resistance against Museveni’s government, which has faced mounting criticism for its authoritarian tactics and suppression of political dissent(
