Kampala, Uganda – Opposition leader and National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, has issued a scathing statement accusing President Yoweri Museveni and his son, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, of turning Uganda into a military state.
In his latest remarks, Bobi Wine declared, “THIS IS TREASON,” condemning the actions of Muhoozi, who was recently installed as the head of Uganda’s military. He accused President Museveni of running the country under military rule for nearly 40 years, while creating an illusion of democracy to deceive the world.

“For almost 40 years, Museveni has run our country under military rule. Given his wicked intelligence, for long he was able to create a façade and hoodwink the world into thinking there was a semblance of democratic rule,” Bobi Wine said.
The opposition leader argued that the regime’s true intentions have been revealed, particularly with Muhoozi’s recent actions and statements, which Bobi Wine believes are erasing any remnants of constitutional order in Uganda.
“Yesterday, he effectively declared Uganda a military state. He shoved aside whatever is left of our constitutional order. These treasonable statements are most unfortunate, but not surprising,” Bobi Wine continued.
He called attention to the double standards in Uganda’s judicial system, arguing that Muhoozi, not NUP supporters, should face military courts for undermining the constitution and democracy. “It is Muhoozi and not the countless NUP supporters who should be facing the military court!” Bobi Wine added.
Bobi Wine’s statement also urged the international community to see Museveni’s regime for what it truly is, now that the “pretense” of democracy has been stripped away.
“With all pretense gone, I hope the rest of the world can now see the regime for what it is!” he concluded.
This bold accusation comes amid escalating political tensions in Uganda, with opposition leaders and supporters increasingly targeted by the government. Bobi Wine’s remarks reflect growing fears that Uganda is drifting further away from democratic governance and into military control under the long-standing leadership of Museveni and his son Muhoozi.
The Ugandan government has yet to respond to these allegations. However, the international community is closely watching the developments, as concerns mount over the erosion of democracy and human rights in the country.
