Uganda marks three years since 2020 protest massacre

KAMPALA, Uganda, Nov. 18 — Today marks three years since the violent suppression of peaceful protests in Uganda, during which numerous supporters of Robert Kyagulanyi, widely known as Bobi Wine, were shot dead by security forces. The protests, held between Nov. 18 and 20, 2020, erupted in response to the arrest of Kyagulanyi during his presidential campaign.

The massacre, described by witnesses as ruthless and unprovoked, claimed the lives of civilians, including children, as they demonstrated for their rights. Survivors and families of the deceased continue to seek justice for the tragedy that has left a lasting scar on the nation’s conscience.
