Robert Kyagulanyi addresses over 270 new members at the NUP headquarters, urging them to join the fight for Uganda's liberation and highlighting the party's commitment to mobilizing across the country

Today, Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, presided over a significant ceremony at the National Unity Platform (NUP) headquarters in Uganda, where over 270 new members and leaders were officially welcomed into the party. The event marked a crucial moment in the party’s ongoing efforts to expand its base and mobilize Ugandans for change.

In his address, Kyagulanyi extended a warm welcome to the new members, expressing his gratitude for their decision to join the struggle to salvage Uganda from its current governance crisis. He emphasized that despite the challenges, it is still possible to rebuild Uganda into a nation characterized by freedom, democracy, and prosperity.

Kyagulanyi did not hold back in criticizing the current regime under President Yoweri Museveni. He pointed out that Museveni and his accomplices have repeatedly shown a disregard for the welfare of Ugandans, either by indifference or outright neglect. “It is therefore high time we took matters into our hands,” he declared, calling on all Ugandans to unite in the effort to liberate the country from its captors and steer it toward a new direction.

He urged the new members to reflect on their daily contributions to the struggle, encouraging them to ask themselves every night what actions they took that day to bring Uganda closer to the envisioned future. Kyagulanyi’s remarks highlighted the importance of active and continuous participation in the movement, stressing that Uganda needs leaders who prioritize and advance the interests of its citizens.

The event also celebrated the party’s vibrant community of artistes and creatives, a group Kyagulanyi has always been proud to be part of. Their presence underscored the party’s commitment to harnessing the power of art and culture in the fight for justice and freedom in Uganda.

In a practical move to enhance the party’s organizational capacity, Kyagulanyi and the NUP leadership handed out new motor vehicles to the mobilisation leaders in Uganda’s four regions, as well as to the Organising department. These vehicles are expected to play a critical role in supporting the party’s activities across the country.

As the ceremony concluded, Kyagulanyi reaffirmed his commitment to the struggle for a better Uganda, leaving the new members and the wider audience with a powerful message of hope and determination: “The struggle continues!
